Weight and coverage decide the night

Heavy ghagras and long trails become difficult once the music starts. Mid weight fabrics, shorter dupattas and secure waistbands keep you dancing instead of adjusting. Anything with delicate hanging embellishment near the sleeves is worth avoiding for a sangeet specifically.

Photographs and video

Sangeet is filmed more than any other function. Sequin, mirror and metallic details read well on video, while very dark matte fabrics can disappear against a dim dance floor. Mid to bright tones with some surface interest are the safer choice.

Choreography considerations

Getting ready away from home

Most sangeet outfits are worn in a hotel room with no iron and no tailor nearby. Pre stitched pieces, attached dupattas and fabrics that travel without creasing solve that problem. Crushed and georgette bases recover from a suitcase far better than raw silk, which is worth knowing before you pack.
